Gary Michael Weisman

Gary Michael Weisman (Born 1952) is active/lives in Pennsylvania, Illinois.  Gary Weisman is known for Life size nude and animal sculpture.

A teacher and sculptor of life-size figures and animals, "notable for their energetic musculature and rich, patinated surfaces" (1), Gary Weisman has been on the faculty as a professor of sculpture at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art since 1986. He is a member of the National Sculpture Society and is noted for his close attention to details through all of processes in creating his sculptures.

He built his own foundry, mixes his own clay in 700-pound batches, uses the lost-wax process in casting his work, and then does the finish work of sanding and polishing.

Many of his works are in public places including the Outdoor Sculpture Plaza for the city of Duluth, Minnesota; and Pepsico/Elmira College in New York. Other sculptures are located in the Union League Club in Chicago, and Cigna Corporation in Philadelphia.

Weisman studied at the Art Institute of Chicago from 1973 to 1974, and at Columbia University where he received a BFA in 1976.
